Mike succumbed to cancer on March 2, 2014. He did not want any service; he was cremated and his ashes will be spread at the place he loved most in the world. That is the homeland of his grandparents, Sicily, Italy. He really loved the country there and had plans to retire in Italy, but he never made it.

He leaves his wife Francesca and his 4 children, Jeremy, Katie, Laurie & Michael. He also had 3 grandchildren.
