Randy was my "high school sweetheart"! We started going steady in my freshman year (1965) and stayed together until I graduated in 1968. He went to Chaffey College for one year, and then went into the US Army. He became a Warrant Officer, and flew helicopters. In high school, we were inseparable. Dances, Mt. Baldy Drive-In movies, family holidays, Sunday afternoon drives, and dinner at his house or mine. I graduated in 1968, and went to Cal Poly, Pomona. He was on his way to Vietnam. I remember him as handsome, funny, had good manners, and I was just sure we would end up married some day.
He went to Vietnam, and I continued at Cal Poly. Our young love drifted apart, and we did not see each other again until 1972. He was attending Cal Poly, and by then, we both had gone our own way. Funny coincedence, we both got married in 1973 (to different people), and he invited me to his wedding and I invited him to mine.
I know he had some struggles in life, and I was happy to hear that he had re-married and was very happy.
High school sweethearts are always so special...RIP my high school sweetheart,
