Service for Mildred Cummings Loyd, 73, will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Porterville's First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick McKinsey officiating. Cremation will be at Myers Funeral Service's crematory and Mrs. Loyd's final resting place will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She died Dec. 12 in a local hospital following a short illness.

Born in Gower, Miss., Mrs. Loyd moved to Porterville in 1937 after graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She taught home economics at Porterville high School for 10 years and for 30 years, with her late husband, John Webb Loyd, owned and operated the Loyd Distributing Company.

She was active in a number of community clubs and service organizations including the Porterville First United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women, Porterville Women's Club, Porterville Garden Club and Porterville Executive's Club.

She is survived by one son, Webb Loyd of Porterville, one daughter, Linda Mosconi of Visalia; two grandsons.

Remembrances may be sent to the United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or the donors favorite charity.
