Dominic “Domenico” Palombo


Dominic lost his courageous battle with Lupus on June 16, 2014 with friends and family and his bedside.  He is survived by his mother, Bernadette, (Shreveport, LA) his wife, Rosy, and his two sons, Nino and Nico (Chevy Chase, MD) as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins (Pennsylvania, California and Florida).  

Dom graduated from Claremont High School in 1992 and earned his BA in Political Science from Louisiana State University at Shreveport in 1998, having mentored under Dr. Bill Pederson and completing an internship with U. S. Senator Mary Landrieu.  Upon graduation, Dom served several years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Caribbean.  After earning his graduate degree in International Public Policy in 2005 from Duquesne University, he received the position as Chief of Global Networks at the Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC.  In 2011, he received the LSUS Alumni Circle of Excellence Award  in appreciation for his recognized leadership through his professionalism and volunteerism.  Prior to his passing, he was employed with CISCO systems.  

Funeral and graveside services were held in Rockville MD in June.  A  memorial service  was  held in Shreveport on July 17th at the Noel Memorial Library on the LSUS campus.   A memorial mass was held in August at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on the Campus of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA for Dom’s Pittsburgh family and friends.
