I recall running into Craig quite often while riding our motorcycles (he had a 2 stroke Bultaco and I had a 4 stroke Honda). We rode in the dirt fields at the far end of Indian Hill Blvd. (houses now) and in the vast foothills behind Claraboya (never got caught by police or fire). None of us wore any safety gear at that time, including helments. Others also from CHS that I recall who also rode motorcycles (many trail bikes) in these same areas was my younger brother, Jim Buentgen,, Mike Stary, Gary and Jack Jensen, Ron and Scott Burkle, Dave Schroeder, Danny Johnson, and Joe Bach. Those were the days, CHS Alum, were they not? RIP Craig.
Wow! so sorry to hear that our buddy Craig is no longer with us. My heart goes out to his entire family. I remember when me, Craig, Jim Daniels and sometimes John Valone, Rick Damico used to go visit him way in the hell out there where he lived and ride his bikes, I do remember that Bultaco. He was always a crack up with that dry sence of humer. Sometimes I did not know if he was serious or not. He would just look at me with those blue eys and straight face. Well we all had a blast at Claremont, the greatest time of my life. We had such great times. So long buddy, till then.
