Marilyn Louise Daves (Latham) - Class Of 1944

Marilyn Louise Latham aka 'Red'

Touched our hearts with her smiling good nature. On Feb. 1, 2013, Marilyn, 86, left us with the grace she lived daily. She persistently and vibrantly held on to life's joys during an 11 year battle with ovarian cancer. Treasured as a wonderful friend and confidante; she shared humor and love every day with others. Born in Pomona, CA, on November 1st, 1926 to Maude and Ross Daves, Marilyn grew up in Claremont, CA. She was in the Claremont High class of 44'. She married the love of her life Bob Latham in 1946 and they were together for 62 years. She was widowed in 2009.

Mother of 2 sons; Geoffrey and Bruce are both deceased. She is survived by much loved family; daughter, Robin Latham-Ponneck, grandchildren Erin and Noah, and cherished great grandson Orion, also sister Betty Brewer, nephew Michael &, niece Vickie. We all adored her.

Bob and Marilyn raised their family in Ontario and Cucamonga. Together these 2 amazingly sweet and loving parents instilled in their offspring; humanitarian values, civic mindedness, the importance of family, common sense and fun. Marilyn was easy to be with; sought after and admired for her kindness and generosity. She enjoyed bridge with her bridge gals. Marilyn's life was full of children. She worked 13 years in public schools as an instructional aide and 2 years as 2nd grade teacher in a private school in Ontario. She volunteer with PTA, her union, PEO, the food bank, and Inland Empire Hospice; and was an involved member and Sunday school teacher at Bethel Congregational Church.
