1914 - May 26, 2004

Emily Ronfeldt (nee Lyon) passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 in the medical unit at Mt. San Antonio Gardens. She was 89 years old.

Born Emily Peck Lyon in 1914 in Vancouver, British Columbia, she resided in Claremont most of her life from age 16 onwards, initially with her parents and four brothers and sisters in the home on Yale Avenue now considered part of Claremont's historical heritage.

She graduated from Claremont High School ('32) and Pomona College ('36), and earned a Masters degree in French studies at the University of California at Berkeley. She then married and raised a family with Louis Ronfeldt. Later, she taught French over two decades at Claremont High School. She was also active in civic and church groups.

She is survived by her three children David (CHS '59), Stephen (CHS 1960), and Helen(CHS '1964)), five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held t his Sunday, May 30, at 2 pm in the Kingman Chapel at the United Church of Christ in Claremont. Reception to follow.
