My favorite year was in 1970 -71 when I roomed with Roger Wood and Doug Galloway on Harrison Ave. A couple of years later Roger and I shared a house with Jon Lines on Blanchard St. while Jon was in the Navy and came home on weekends. I was attending Pitzer, so I applied to get a show on KSPC at Pomona College. Roger had experience so he became my engineer and co-host. At the end of the year he and Jon moved up to Springfield, Oregon. I followed up just for a visit, but decided to enroll at the University of Oregon and get my credential. Job prospects were bleak in education, so I returned to California to sub and wait tables, but for Roger there was no turning back. He followed his Oregon dream and found a career in environmentalism in State Government. Roger made a mark on all who knew him and is deeply missed. I'm glad that he found happiness up in the Northwest, especially when I consider what a good friend he had always been to me.
