Candy was my childhood friend. We met standing in line to register for kindergarten at Vista Elem in Claremont. Actually our mothers met, started a conversation, and they became dear friends. Candy always had a sense of humor, which is why she became our school mascot in '67'. I have so many fun, wonderful stories to share. But, one of them is funny and special. We were 9 or 10 yrs. old, and Candy had taken her grandfathers cigarettes to try one. I admit that I might have tried one also. We thought that we had gotten away with our secret, but not so. Before her parents could talk to her, Candy "ran away" to my house, which was just around the corner. She tried to crawl under my bed when my mother came into my room to ask what all the noise was about. My mother must have seen her, or at least the part of her that couldn't get under. Mom left my room, and again, we thought that we had gotten away with another secret. However, the next thing we heard was Candy's mother as she came into my room. I remember the story, but not her punishment! I loved Candy's sense of humor and her faithful friendship. Bill and Candy had two daughters, Heidi (born 1973(?) and Kari. Rest with God, dear Candy.

I did not know Candy, but I worked with her husband Bill, at GTE in Ontario.
