This news makes me sad. While never close to her, Joann always felt like a fundamentally kind person.  Condolences to all her CHS friends who will miss her.

Wow Roland.... I'm gald your post was sent to my email.  I also am very very saddened to hear about Joann's death.  I had such a crush on her in grade school and High School.  She wa sooooo smart and clever and had a wicked sense of humor I absolutely love love LOVED!  I can only give ONE particular thing she said that made me laugh so much.  We were in class.... passing notes back and forth.  Every note was just nonsense.  The words made no sense.  I remember she sent me a note that read " The map of Austrailia ran across the road."  For some reason I thought that was so funny.  I know, I know.... it sounds silly and rediculous... but it just made me laugh.  When I got out of High School things changed for me.... my very short hair became very long... mustasche or beard hair to my waist .... playing rock n' roll music for a living.  I had not seen Joann for about 2 or 3 yearts.  I was in Newport Beach... walking on the sidewalk by the beach.... and who is approaching me...yep... Joann.  She walked right by me.  I'm sure she didn't recognize me.  As she walked about a step past me I said "see you the later Joann."  She stopped and looked at me for about 5 seconds and said "Bill?"  I forgot how that meeting all ended... but I DO REMEMBER the meeting.  I know I'm rambling.... I'm just going on because I feel I've lost something.  It has been years and years and years since I've seen Joann.  I think Gary Angelo and Joann came together at one of our reunions.  lol   Funny. I'm pretty certain she grew up to be one amazing woman.  Ohhh Roland... how I wish I could go back to that day in Newport Beach.... just for 10 or 15 minutes.  You made a difference in my life Joann.  Thanks.  See ya later Joann.

While we went our separate ways, we continued to stay in touch throughout the years. As her illness became more serious, we decided to make a memorial for the good times we had.  We considered several options and agreed upon a more lasting memorial using a lyric from one of our favorite songs.  It was placed in the Botanic Garden across from CHS.  After we’re both gone, we knew that there would be some memories that linger on
