I first met Pat as "Mary" Leyden in the summer of 1959 when we moved to California, and my parents picked out a house on St. Augustine street, and she and her brother, Jack, lived across the street.  Pat also attended Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, and so we attended religious education classes together, as well at Oakmont Elementary.  I remember Pat as sweet girl, with positive things to say about everyone.  I will always have fond memories of our times together.  May she rest in peace.

How do you say "Good bye" to your best friend? Someone you've known from the time before you even went to school? We grew up together, we went through grade school to high school, we married and moved away, started our own family, then when divorce brought us back "home" we supported and encouraged one another as we both raised our daughters. Pat was my "2:00 AM friend", the one you can call "no matter what time it is" if you need something. She was Ethyl to my Lucy or vice versa. We enjoyed many laughs and a few tears over the years. In July 2017 she moved to Seattle to live with her daughter Shannon and her two grandsons. I missed our get togethers but we still talked, in fact I spoke with her the week before she passed, she was enjoying her time with family, so it was a shock when I heard from Shannon that her mom had passed away February 1. I still feel like I need to pick up the phone just to say "hi" and find out what's happening. I lost a friend but I have gained a "bonus daughter" and grandsons! ❤️
