Mary R. King was born on March 13, 1929 in Claremont California to Gregorio and Senaida Parrilla. She was the eldest of seven children: Guadalupe (Thomas) Parrilla, Pedro (Peter) Parrilla, Secundino (Gardo) Parrilla, Elvira (Vera) Snedden, Esther Parrilla and Cristina Guerrero.

She attended Claremont High School and graduated in 1947. After graduation she started a family and had five children. Family was the most important part of her life. She had a very kind and loving heart not only to family members but also to friends and anyone she met. She was best known as simply "Grandma" to everyone.

She enjoyed reading, playing golf, cooking and watching sports. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family. She called herself "Freeway Grannie" as she was always driving on the freeway to visit or stay with family. She also loved to travel and played golf at some of the most prestigious courses, such as Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines. She especially enjoyed playing golf with her grandsons and their friends, always coming in first place!

During the 1960's she worked as a director of the local Teen Post in Pomona, Ca, where she counseled and advised teens at risk. She later moved to Los Angeles in 1970. In the 1970's and 1980's she worked for the Department of Public Social Services and Social Security Administration. She retired in the 1990's.

She leaves behind her legacy of love, family and strength. 

She is survived by her five children: Theresa Snedden, William Snedden Jr., Yvonne Snedden, Kathryn Cooper and Tomi Barker. She has twenty three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is further survived by a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gregorio and Senaida Parrilla, husbands' Roger E. King, William R. Snedden Sr., her brothers Thomas Parrilla, Peter Parrilla, Gardo Parrilla, her sister Cristina Guerrero and her Grandson Julian Lewis.
