Joyce Tarter (Durr)

Joyce Durr (nee Tarter), 79, left this earth for the glories of heaven on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, surrounded by her loving daughters.  A family graveside service will be held at the Meridian Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 5, followed by a Memorial Service at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Ave. Road, Nampa, at 3:30 p.m. 

Joyce was born on April 16, 1931, in Pomona, Calif., to Frederick and Leslie Tarter. She attended school in Pomona and graduated from Claremont High School in 1949. 

She continued her education at Azusa Pacific College. She married Lewis Durr on Aug. 18, 1950, in Pomona, Calif., and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. Joyce and her family moved to Nampa, in 1961 where she lived the rest of her life.  She was employed at Action Realty, Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, and the Intermountain District Churchof the Nazarene. 

Joyce enjoyed gardening, reading, music, sewing, and talking with anyone. She deeply loved her family and supported her children and grandchildren in whatever they chose to do. She was very involved in her church teaching children and teens. Joyce was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene. 

Joyce is survived by her husband, Lewis; children, Laura (Rex) Richardson, and Joni (Doug) Wilson; sister, Sue (Richard) Hannemann; brother, Mitt (Lily) Paine; grandchildren, Mindy Helena, Rob Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Matt Richardson, Kara Franklin, and Katie Henbest, and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank Guardian Hospice for their caring service to our mother during this time. 

The family suggests that memorial contributions to honor Joyce may be made to the Music Department of Northwest Nazarene University, 623 S. University Blvd., Nampa ID 83686.
