Nina Marie (Brown) Westney, age 65 of Palatka, Florida passed away on November 29, 2014. Nina was born in Redding, California on January 5th, 1949 and lived her early life in Pomona and Claremont, California. She graduated from Claremont High School and received a Bachelors in Education from The University of La Verne, and later a Masters in Education from The University of North Florida.  

Nina was married to Michael Westney for 25 years and lived many places as the Navy moved them around the world. 

Throughout her career, Nina taught elementary school in many public school systems including Browning Pierce Elementary School in San Mateo FL from 1987 - 2002, and Maricopa County Schools in Arizona.  

She was an avid reader and loved children, both her own children and grandchildren, as well as the students she taught.

Nina is survived by her Mother: Cleo Lund, two Sisters: Donna MacPherson and Roylan Edson, Brother: Ron Brown, three Children: Pamela & Randy Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Brian & Suzanne Westney of Spiro, OK and Scott & Dee Westney of San Mateo, FL. She has 8 grandchildren Mykenna Steichen, Taylor, Ethan and Ava Jones, Savannah, Trenton and Emily Westney and Emrie Baxter. Nina has one great grandchild Karlee Steichen and other family and friends.

Nina is preceded in death by her Father, Thomas L. Brown, one time owner of The Rack Mens Store in Claremont, CA.
