Matt Douglas Mayhew (1956 - 2009)

Matt Douglas Mayhew - Hayward, CA Matt Douglas Mayhew died suddenly on October 18, 2009 in Hayward, CA. He was 52.

Matt was born in Pomona, CA and spent his early childhood divided between the Southern California and San Francisco Bay areas. Matt graduated from Claremont High School in 1974 and made a permanent move to the bay area shortly thereafter.

In November 1978, Matt welcomed a son, Justin Michael into the Mayhew family. Matt met the love of his life, Aline Pond and in 1985 they were married at Lake Tahoe.

Matt thoroughly enjoyed the San Francisco 49er's and spent many Sunday's in Candlestick Park cheering them on with his brother Mark. His true passion was cooking for family and friends; Matt could regularly be found in his kitchen or in the homes of friends preparing a meal.

He is preceded in death by his mother Joan and stepfather Bob Ditsch. He is survived by his dad, Phil, stepmom Judy, wife Aline, son Justin (Mayra) and his grandchildren, Jacob (7) & Jeremiah (not yet one). He is also survived by his brother Mark (Susan), nephews Ashley & Brian and his sister Cameron (Curtis) Mock. Not to be forgotten is his beloved canine companion, Chico Pete.

A celebration in honor of Matt's life will be held in Livermore, CA at Burnin' Burro Studios 6651 Brisa St Livermore, CA on December 12, 2009 from 2-6. To honor Matt's memory, the family asks you to perform random acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers a donation in Matt's name can be made to the American Heart Association
