Nov 7, 1935 - Mar 22, 2024

George "Howard" DeWeese, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2024, at the age of 88. He leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born on November 7, 1935, in Pomona, CA, Howard lived a life marked by dedication and commitment. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1953-1961. His service in the Navy shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty that he carried with him throughout his life.
Howard had a remarkable 37-year banking career but in his leisure time he found joy in activities like bowling, golfing and painting statuary. Whether engrossed in a book, solving a crossword puzzle, watching baseball or indulging in a classic movie from his substantial collection, he approached each day with gratitude accompanied by his quick wit and rapier sense of humor.
In the final years of Howard's life, his beloved wife, Dixie, stood as a pillar of unwavering love and devotion. With tender care and boundless compassion, she tended to him through the challenges of illness.
Howard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Dixie DeWeese, his cherished daughters, Lori VanderWeit and Julie (Brian) Canann. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bob (Teri) Brown, nieces Courtney (Bryan) Schilling and Lindsay (Justin) Ward, nephew Travis Brown, his cousins, Dan Crebbin, Mark (Suzanne) Crebbin, Craig Crebbin, Stephanie (Tim) Dison and Shirley Cornelius, his four beloved grandchildren - Kaylie (Joe) Lawson, Sarah (Stuart) Patterson, Logan (Lindsey) Canann, and Emma Canann - and six great-grandchildren, whose laughter brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Though Howard may no longer be with us in body, his legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire and resonate through the generations he leaves behind.
