Korlyse “Korky” Loray Robertson, a 79-year resident of California and a 12-year resident of Joshua Tree, died Nov. 23, 2017, in Palm Desert. She was 79 years old.The daughter of Paul Skelton Golder and Etta Elizabeth Sheridon, she was born June 3, 1938, in Long Beach.

She worked as a medical office manager for 15 years and a school secretary for 12 years before her retirement.

She was a member of the Back Country Horsemen of California and the South West Bluegrass Association.

Korky loved cooking, camping, reading, music, taking care of her family and her “puppies,” as she called her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Robertson, of Joshua Tree; her brother, Dave Golder, of Crestline; her sister, Paula Cosby, of Spokane, Washington; her daughters, Lauri Robertson, of Flint, Texas, Cheryl Robertson, of San Bernardino, and Karri Robertson, of San Diego; and her grandchildren, Nicolas Bray, of Austin, Texas, and Marie Goshorn, of Palestine, Texas.

A memorial was held Nov. 29 at The Roost Cafe at Hawks Landing, Yucca Valley.

Korky was a lifelong resident of Southern California except for two years in Alaska when Ron was in the military. She graduated from Claremont High School (1956) in Claremont, and Pasadena City College in Pasadena.

Korky was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and never wanted any help in the kitchen. She enjoyed music, especially the crooners. Her biggest love though was taking care of her husband of 59 years, Ron, and he misses her every day.
