David Ryan Zitlow VIEW PROFILE

David Ryan Zitlow, 72, of Quinnesec, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette.

He was born January 25, 1940, in Fond du Lac, Wis., son of the late Harold and Helen Zitlow. David grew up in Fond du Lac and graduated from high school there. He served in the United States Army Reserve. He married Alicja Adamczyk on December 1, 1990, in Armstrong Creek, Wis.

David attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He then went on to attend Arizona State University, where he received his Master of Education. David worked in Freemont, Calif., for a few years before moving back to Fond du Lac. He taught in Whitefish Bay, Wis., for fifteen years. After retiring, David moved to Homestead, Wis., and later to Goodman, Wis., and most recently resided in Quinnesec.

He was an active member of the Elk’s Lodge in Fond du Lac. David was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed traveling. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Alicja; two sons, Gwidon Kolkowski, West Bend, Wis., Arkadiusz (Marzena) Kolkowski, Goodman; three sisters, Gloria (Bill) Ott, Menasha, Wis., Diane Schroeder, Ga., Gail (Tim) Kohl, Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren, Aleksandra and Natalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford. Rev. Dan Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec.

Malcolm Paul Douglass, Jr. (1969)

Mr. Zitlow was a wonderful and caring teacher.  I am so sorry to know he is gone.

What Paul wrote goes for me, too.  He was a miracle worker, I think, because I actually enjoyed the Economics class he taught.  RIP David
