Geraldine 'Gerry' Mary Lininger, 74, of La Verne, Calif., formerly of Ashland and Medford, died (pneumonia) March 19, 2000, at Pomona Valley Hospital. The graveside service was held March 25 at La Verne Cemetery. The memorial service was held March 30 at La Verne

Church of the Brethren. Charles Boyer and Janet Ober Miller officiated.

She was born June 26, 1925, in Ashland, a daughter of Bruce M. and Blanche (Minear) Lininger. She attended Ashland High School for three years, and graduated from Medford High School in 1943. She received a bachelor of arts degree from La Verne College in 1948.

Ms. Lininger taught high school business education for three years in Myrtle Point. She served with the Brethren Volunteer Service in Germany and Geneva, Switzerland from 1951 to 1955. She then taught business education for 29 years at Claremont High School in California, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International, the Women Educators group, the California Retired Teachers Association, and the La Verne Church of the Brethren.

Ms. Lininger enjoyed gardening and traveling. She wrote poetry and gave slide presentations set to music to numerous community groups.

Survivors include her mother, Blanche Minear Lininger, La Verne, Calif.; and two sisters, Margaret V. Lininger, La Verne, Calif., and Ruth I. Lininger, Astoria.
