Barbara Jean Peterson, age 67, passed away from an pulmonary embolism on August 5, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 2, 1943, in Madison, to Gordon and Hazel Puttkammer. Her father preceded Barbara in death.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel of Arena; her four children and their spouses, Eric Peterson of Tampa, Fla., Christopher and Valerie Peterson of Bealeton, Va., Jill and Dustin Taylor of Manhattan, Kan., Adria Gentry of Arena; and by five grandchildren, Stephanie, Patrick, Riley, Alyssa, and Lexxie. Barbara lived a creative life and was a talented seamstress and quilter. She loved to cook and traveling was one of her favorite pastimes. She was one-of-a-kind, and will be missed.

Barbara had been going through chemotherapy these past couple of years for some type of blood disorder, but her death was very sudden & unexpected. She has been living in Wisconsin with her mother & daughter. She has 4 children.

I hadn't talked to Barb for a couple of years so I wasn't aware of her health problems. I wish I had known so I could be a support for her, but her mom said Barb didn't want to talk about it much. I tried to communicate with her at Christmas, but she never responded back. Now I know why.
