With courage and dignity, Harriet (Duncan) Nelson-Keyton, 94 years young, quietly passed away on November 13, 2011. She was born May 1, 1917 In Canton, China to parents Kenneth and Antointte Duncan. The family returned to reside in Claremont, CA when Harriet was 10 years old. She graduated from Claremont High School and then attended Pomona College where she was a premed student.

She met Frans Nelson during her Junior year and they married February 17, 1938 in Arizona. Harriet was passionate about education and at age 44 attended Whittier College and received her BA in Education. She was a 4th grade teacher for 15 years before retiring. Frans and Harriet celebrated 66 years of marriage together and at age 86 she met and married her second husband Herman Keyton and they married October 13, 2003. Recently Harriet and Herman celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary together.

Harriet leaves behind her beloved husband Herman; her children Frans (Sandy) Nelson and Toni Fricke; grandchildren Justin Maison, Natalie Nelson, Sarah Robertson and Zach Robertson; step daughter Anita (Richard) Peake and many treasured friends.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Bonaventure in Sparks December 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation to either the Kids Kottage, c/o WCSDSS, PO Box 11130, Reno, NV 89520-0027 or to the Mariposa Academy, 3875 Glen, Reno, NV 89502 in Harriet's honor is requested
