Amy Gusman Miller (53) of Manhattan Beach passed away on ovember 27th, 2013 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance after a long brave fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, Richard Miller, and two daughters, Erica Miller (age 18) and Jessica Miller (age 15) at the time of her passing.

Amy was born on April 22, 1960 in Washington D.C. She moved to Sacramento shortly thereafter and then to Claremont in 1965. After graduating from Claremont High in 1978, she attended UCLA, earning a Bachelor's Degree in English in 1982. She started in the world of advertising as a receptionist while still at UCLA. After having worked at many different agencies and advancing quickly through the ranks, she ended her career as Vice President of Marketing at Mattel to become a full time mom to her young daughters. Amy met her husband Rich after he saw a friend's photo of Amy and asked to be introduced to her. They were married February 16, 1992. 

Amy is best known for her exceptional intelligence, uplifting spirit, keen sense of humor, energy and especially her bright smile. She was loved by all who knew her. Amy was an active volunteer in the Manhattan Beach public schools including co-leading the Young at Art program at Pacific Elementary and Manhattan Beach Middle School. Most recently, Amy spent several years on the board of the Hermosa/Manhattan branch of the National Charity League and volunteered for special projects at Mira Costa High School. She enjoyed art, reading and traveling. Favorite destinations include Bora Bora, Sunriver, Jackson Hole, Beaver Creek, Hawaii, Paris, London, New York and most recently Barcelona. 

She is survived by her loving family: husband Rich Miller, daughters Erica and Jessica Miller, her parents Bob and Harriet Gusman, In-laws Larry and Iris Miller, sisters Julie Gusman, Jennifer Gusman Norin (Steve Norin), brother's in law Brad Miller (Susheela Miller), Skip Miller (Susie Rankin Miller) of Redondo Beach, and nieces and nephews Jeffrey and Mollie Norin, Tara and Josh Miller, Jake and Samantha Miller and Claire Gusman. 

There will be a celebration of Amy's life at the Manhattan Beach Marriott located at 1400 Parkview Avenue, Manhattan Beach, California at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013. All who knew Amy or her family are invited. In Amy's words "If I live in the present, finding joy and peace in my daily life, I live fully."
