"I Am Alive" Written by: Kyle Smith I am alive Standing still I can feel the Earth turn As my hand swipes the sky I read the stars like braille And each one has a story to tell These words that my mouth expels From the depths of hell I come from the volcano and what it brew You came from the corpse the wolves once slew I am the silhouette portrait the artist drew I was the shy kid no one knew I am the tsunami, drunk off waves In the ocean my path is paved I will cradle you with my tides My patience, I'm the one that bides I am the absence of your heart Yes, that which tore us apart I am the water that washed your newborn daughter I am the camouflage that hid you from the slaughter I am your voice when you're hoarse I am the grain of sand oh how coarse I am the well you tossed your coin down The wish unanswered, no reply, no sound I am the joy when father's proud I am the rain bleeding from the clouds I am the cavity in your chest The heat of your breath I am here when nothing is left I am the wind that pulls your kite I am the lens that corrects your sight I am life seeping from your body I am the lament in return, I'll keep you from rotting I am the spade that dug your grave I am the cotton that softens your coffin I am your guardian angel, watching over you Recording every action or word pursued I am the roar muffled by the lion's mane I am the jockey holding onto your life's reins Steering you in any direction, adding you to my collection I am gilded leaves among wicked trees I am the blizzard wintery days bring I am the hymn the early birds sing Arise to wake the kingdom's majesty I am the flame that always kept its burn I am the ashes that fill this wooden urn I am the pain and sorrow you've earned Standing still the Earth still turns I am the excuse you'll always find I am the expansion of your bottomless mind I come from the royal bloodline, to hear chandliers chime I am everywhere, here and there On my ship and lead by my sail I am alive and well Reading the stars like braille
