William "Bill" Manjarrez Sr. Age 80, of La Verne, California, went to the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2021. He was at home with his wife and family by his side. He was born March 13, 1941 in Anaheim, California, the son of Jesus and Faith Manjarrez. He was one of eight siblings.

On August 19, 1961 he married Barbara Pinkston. He was in Claremont High School's class of 1959. From high school, Bill went to work for American Optical. He would work for them until 1960 when he joined the United States Army. In the Army, he was an Optical Lab specialist and because of that he was stationed at the Medical and Optical Lab located in St. Louis, Missouri. It was while he was there he met his bride, Barbara. He would remain there until he was discharged. After returning home he went to work for Stein and Stein, Optometrist. Between Bill and the two doctors they ran 4 offices in the South Bay area. He remained with the two brothers until he retired in March of 2020.

Bill loved the ocean and enjoyed scuba diving. He loved horses. He enjoyed going to Santa Anita to watch them race. He even owned two or three. Bill was also involved in his community. He was a volunteer fireman for the City of LaVerne. He even took a turn at being Santa in the city's annual Holiday parade.

Bill is survived by his wife and son, Barbara and William, Jr., his granddaughter, Cory Waller, 2 great-grandchildren, Madison and Parker and his siblings: Luis Manjarrez of Upland, Ca, Norman Manjarrez of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, Belle Peters of San Bernardino, Ca and Rose Carter of Hemet, Ca. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anita and his siblings Lily, Joe and Kathryn. The family would like to thank MLife Hospice and especially Nurse Bobby for his care and the peace he brought to Bill and his family. Thank You MLife. Bless you Nurse Bobby.

The service for Bill is being held at 10:00am Monday, May 17, 2021 at Riverside National Cemetery.
