Kara Michelle Engel - Class Of 1986 VIEW PROFILE

Kara Michele Engel, 42, of Murrieta, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in Murrieta of breast cancer. She was born Oct. 4, 1968, in Upland, Calif., a child of John Henry Engel.

She was raised and lived in Southern California her entire life. Kara earned her associate's degree in social behavioral sciences, math/science, and humanities from Mount San Jacinto College in Meniffee, Calif. She was completing her degree at California State College-Fullerton in graphic art design.

Kara worked with special-needs and autistic children in the Lake Elsinore School District for five years. She also worked for Starbucks for several years.

She loved people, animals, a good cup of coffee, art, music, history, reading, shopping, education, chocolate, the Lord, praying, her cat Ruby and her Shi Tzus. Working with special-needs and autistic children was also important to her.

Surviving Kara are her brother, Greg Engel; sister Amy Engel-Parker and husband Bob Parker; her mother, Bonnie Kelly; niece Ashley Engel; and nephew, Gregory Engel. She was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Engel; grandparents Evelyn and Henry Engel; and an aunt, Carole Engel.

A funeral service is being conducted Thursday in Claremont, Calif., with the Rev. Dick Bunce of Claremont officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Murrieta Hospice or any hospice organization



Kara was diagnosed with invasive ductile carcinoma bilateral breast cancer when she was 40 years old.  Her diagnosis was on Jan. 22, 2010 and she died on February 14, 2011
