The Bill Eisenwinter Memorial Hotshot Tournament is named in memory Bill Eisenwinter, former director of the Sting Soccer Club. Bill was tragically killed in a car accident on memorial weekend in 2003 while on his way to the state cup tournament held in Pocatello, Idaho. Bill was a coach, a mentor but most of all a friend.

Bill’s tireless work has set the foundation of the Sting Soccer Club. His involvement in the game has also made him synonymous with soccer across North Idaho, having coached at both Coeur d’Alene and Lake City high schools before also establishing the men’s and women’s programs at NIC.

His passing triggered an avalanche of emotion that rushed not only through the soccer community and college, but anyone he had come in contact with. It was a fitting tribute to a life well lived. "Bill was passionate for the game, but he was passionate for enjoying life.  He attracted people that wanted to be a part of that."

If you are near tournament headquarters at Canfield Middle School, please take a moment to walk over and observe the granite bench that overlooks field #4 or as it is known as “Eisenwinter Field.” The bench honors Bill’s dedication and commitment to the youth of North Idaho.
