Carol Ann Hansch (Heminger) - Class Of 1976 VIEW PROFILE

Carol Ann Hansch (Heminger)

April 16, 1958 - Feb. 11, 2010

Carol Ann Heminger (1958-2010) went home to be with the Lord she loved, after a nearly two-year-long battle with breast cancer.

Carol was born in Upland, Calif., April 16, 1958, to Corwin and Gloria Hansch who already had a son, Cliff. Carol lived in Claremont until moving to Half Moon Bay in 1999 with her husband, Brian, to start Calvary Chapel Half Moon Bay. She attended Claremont schools graduating from high school in 1976. Having spent her school years in Claremont from kindergarten through high school, she made friends that remain in touch to this day. Carol graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Carol worked as a travel agent until her health prevented her from working in August 2009.

At the tender age of 15, Carol met Brian Heminger. Believing he struck gold, Brian pursued Carol and they began dating in June of 1974. But there was no greater event in her life than in February 1981 when she surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. Her commitment from that day never wavered and neither did God’s work in her life. If there is one lasting legacy of Carol it would be her relationship with her Savior. From the very start she believed in God’s love for her and she determined to honor God for what he had done for her. The next year of her life was one of great growth leading up to her greatest challenge in life. She married Brian.

From their wedding on Dec. 4, 1982 to her passing into Heaven on Feb. 11, 2010, Carol and Brian were inseparable. Over their 27 years of marriage they journeyed the world enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and the pleasant company of each other. Carol’s last trip was to her beloved Kauai in September 2009. It was one of her favorite places in the world.

While never having children of their own, family was always a top priority for Carol and Brian. She loved her parents and brother deeply and took incredible delight in marrying into the Heminger family. There were very few delights in this world greater to Carol than her nieces: Caitlin, Stefanie and Alyssa Geiger, and Lauren and Lindsey Heminger. Carol simply glowed when they were together.

She was truly an uncompromising woman of Godly beauty while simply living what she believed. Her devotion to the Lord, her commitment to prayer and her diligent study of God’s Word are perhaps the most memorable things about the last 29 years of her life. In a world of religious hypocrisy, Carol was a real Christian. Her gentle and even spirit kept many on track, not the least of which was her husband. To say she was loved by the Church here is an understatement. In the House of God where Jesus is the Head, Carol was a pillar. She will forever be loved and missed by her Church. In her life as a believer she had served diligently at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and the Calvary Chapels in Claremont, San Mateo and finally Half Moon Bay.

But no one loved her like Brian. He always said he “married well.” But she felt the same. Through everything in their life — for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, in anything and everything — they were perfect for each other as they strived always to love one another as Christ loved them. They not only loved each other, they served and supported each other through all the changes of their 27 years of marriage. She is and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Because of seating limitations at Calvary Chapel, the memorial service for Carol will be Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m. at Mariners Community Church. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, Brian requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
