Carl Ora Cervantes - Class Of 1976 VIEW PROFILE

Carl Ora Cervantes

Mar 14 1958 - Feb 6, 2019

Carl Ora Cervantes passed away unexpectedly in the city of Glendale, CA - near his family home in La Crescenta, on February 6, 2019, age 60.

Carl lived in Claremont from the mid 1960's through 1976 when he moved to Santa Barbara for College.  Carl is  remembered as a good friend with a quick smile for those who knew him.  Occasionally a prankster, he attempted to switch places with his twin brother on at least one occasion, but teachers quickly sorted it out and sent them back to their respective classrooms.  The two brothers were always close, often seen side by side enjoying many of the same activities while growing up in Claremont.

Carl attended Chaparral Elementary School and La Puerta Junior High, and was often one of the first to step forward and be a friend to the new kids in school.  Living in Claremont at a time when neighborhoods were growing by leaps and bounds, Carl’s name comes up often as a “first friend” among his peers and classmates.

Both boys joined local community and sports groups, and were active in Cub Scouts, Little League, scholastic baseball teams and local musical theatre.

Older “by ten minutes” and a mirror image of his younger brother David, Carl loved baseball. He and David were a fixture on many of the same Claremont baseball teams over the years from Little League through High School.

With his twin brother, he performed in many Claremont High School Theatre Productions, including Damn Yankees, Anne of the Thousand Days, twice portraying twins onstage in the King and I, and The Prince and The Pauper.

After Graduating from CHS in 1976, Carl moved to Santa Barbara and continued to live on the Central Coast, living in and around Goleta and the Santa Barbara area, where he had a business, for the next few decades.

Carl’s friends and classmates were shocked and brokenhearted to learn of his tragic death, along with that of his brother David.

We will always remember them both as the bright, generous and enthusiastically friendly guys that we first met some five decades ago.

Rest in Peace, Carl, you will be missed.
