Nina "June" Wilson, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2007.

She was born on June 21, 1920 at home near the town of Persia, Iowa, to the late Thomas and Martha Diggle.

She was the third of four girls in the family. She attended a small country school through the eighth grade. In 1936, the family moved to Claremont, California where she graduated from Claremont High School in 1938.

Thereafter, June attended Long Beach Business College. During WWII, she moved to Chicago for one year where she worked at Douglas Aircraft Co.

In 1945, June met Edward 'Ted" Wilson at a dance in Pomona, California while Ted was home on leave from the service. They married on May 12, 1946 and, following a honeymoon to the Northwest, began farming operations in Chino, California.  

In 1952, June and Ted moved to Chico, California where they bought a ranch and raised crops and livestock north of town along Pine Creek. In 1966, they started Pine Creek Sand & Gravel, a gravel and trucking business which they operated until their retirement in 1987.

During their years on the farm, June was active in PTA and 4-H. June and Ted enjoyed friends and relatives from Southern California who often came to visit and stay for vacation. She also greatly enjoyed annual vacations at Bass Lake near Yosemite from 1958 to 1968 with family and friends.

June was especially fond of dancing and golf and enjoyed those activities for many years. June was very close to her family and took great pleasure in their lives and accomplishments.

June is survivedby her husband, Ted; two sisters, Eleanor Pulliarn and Vee White; two sons and their wives, Gary and Terry, and Dennis and Carol; eight grandchildren, Corrie Arellano, Sara Nelson, Randy Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Arnie Preecs, Gary Wilson, Edward Wilson and Zachary Wilson; and one great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wed., October 24, 2007 at Pine Creek Cemetery on Broyles Road north of Chico. Arrangements are under the direction of Affordable Mortuary.
