Memorial services for Carolyn Zerveck Fitch, 53 , former Claremont resident, who died at her home in Pullam, Washington, on March 23, 2007, were held at the First United Methodist Church of Moscow, Idaho, on March 23rd.

Carolyn's early years were spent in Pomona and in Claremont where she attended local schools. She graduated from Claremont High School in 1972. While there, she participated in drill team, Chamber Singers and theater during which time she starred in the role of Anna in "The King and I." She also displayed her musical talents as a member of Southern California Youth Chorale during their '71-72' season giving concerts in Japan, Hong Kong, the Republic of China and Hawaii. The Chorale climaxed the season with a performance in the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion of the Los Angeles Music Center. Carolyn attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, studying music and German. There she met and married James Douglas of Richland, Washington, where their two sons, Patrick Walker Douglas and Michael Richard Douglas, were born. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Following a divorce in 1997, Carolyn married Don Franklin Fitch and moved to the Pullman/Moscow, Idaho area. There she enrolled in the University of Idaho and earned her bachelor's degree. At the time of her death she was in the final semester of work for a master's degree in Special Education. Throughout her married life, Carolyn was actively involved with music, giving private lessons in piano and voice and finding great pleasure working with the adult and children's choirs in her church. She also participated in community theater as both actor and musical director.

In addition to her husband and children, Carolyn is survived by her parents, Richard and Elaine Zerveck of Claremont, aunts Marie Searles of Claremont and Marcia Riley of Monterey, sister-in-law Marcia Searles of Costa Mesa, nephew Jeff Searles of Charlotte, NC, and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Richard Searles in 2000.
