Margaret Howell (Sloane)

Margaret Howell Sloane passed away on June 6, 2014 in her home with family by her side. 
 
Born in 1929 in Illinois, her parents David and Frances Howell would eventually settle in Southern California. Married to Sam Wilson, she traveled to the East Coast and started to build her family. Later she would take her children Sara and Neil back to Southern California, marrying Donald Sloane and adding their son David to the family. A 30 year resident of Arcata, she was proud of her community and volunteered many hours to the Clark Historical Museum, Humboldt County Library Humboldt Room and Arcata Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center. 
 
Margaret is survived by her daughter Sara Hayes and husband Dennis, they gave Margaret her first grandchildren, Katelyn and Erin. The Hayes family resides in San Diego as well as Margaret's son Neil Wilson. Her second son David Sloane and wife Diane of McKinleyville are the parents of Margaret's grandchildren, Kelsey and Ryan. Brother William Howell and her niece's and nephew, Bill, Beth (Dickinson) and Becky Howell live in San Diego. 
 
Margaret would settle in Arcata and put down deep roots. Always enjoying the many opportunities provided by Humboldt County and extensively exploring the State of California as she traveled many times in her camper between her children in Northern and Southern California. Margaret turned life into an adventure and will be missed by all that new her. 

Margaret had requested there be no funeral services.
