Marian Garris (Ensminger)

Nov 25, 1928 - May 2, 2017

Died peacefully at home on May 2, 2017. She was born in Inglewood, California on November 25, 1928, the youngest of three daughters to Alma and Piatt Garris and third generation Californian. The family settled on a small farm north of Claremont, a "wonderful place to grow, where we could wander through the groves and explore through the rocky wash area." The family moved into Claremont when World War II began to "better manage our schedules with greater convenience." She met Leonard Ensminger while working at the Village Theater in Claremont, and they were married on June 10, 1950. They raised Keith, Mark, Dana and Nancy Ensminger in Torrance and Palos Verdes.

Marian Ensminger was a proud homemaker, public school teacher, and volunteer with many charitable organizations. She was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved art, travel, and family history. She volunteered at the Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay before moving in 2007 to retirement in Beaumont, California. Marian and Leonard lived an abundant and beautiful life. She saw beauty in everything; from historical artifacts across the world to the flower in her own back yard. She taught everyone much about living with grace and appreciating life in all its complexities.
