Michael, loving father and beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on June 21, 2012 in his home in Bell Canyon , California . He would have been 53 on July 11.

Michael entered this world in Sacramento , California and spent his early years in Salt Lake City , Utah and Smyrna , Georgia . His family at last settling in Southern California , Michael grew up as a typical, fun-loving California boy. A talented athlete, Michael loved sports, especially football and baseball.

As a graduate from Claremont High School in 1977, Michael went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in business at Cal Poly Tech in Pomona , California . Soon after graduating, Michael began his successful career in sales. Dubbed “Hollywood Mike” by friends and family, he spent the last 20 years working with the Hollywood studios, renting equipment to build movie sets, including the blockbusters “Titanic” and the “Batman” trilogy. One of his favorite memories from this time was when he happened upon a concert set where Madonna was rehearsing. He sat down in the front row to watch; Madonna saw him there, walked over to him and performed her entire number directly to him.

Michael’s true creative passion was buying upscale fixer-upper houses, completely remodeling them, and then reselling them as beautiful homes. He so enjoyed the redesigning, adding and improving that transformed an average abode into a spectacular one.

Michael is survived by his parents Richard and Delmer Petersen; his sister Charlotte Miller; brothers Kevin and Stephen; niece Elise Miller; nephews Austin and Grant Miller and Jake, Tyler and Alden Petersen; a multitude of relatives and friends; and by his beloved 4-year-old son William, who Michael considered his greatest achievement. He will be remembered and terribly missed by all of us with love and laughter.
