James Alan Ayers

Dec 30, 1955 - April 14, 2014

James Alan Ayers, 58, past away suddenly on April 14, 2014 from a massive stroke. Jim was born to Eber “Curly” And Edith Ayers and raised in Southern California with his two sisters and two brothers. After getting drafted by the San Francisco Giants organization straight out of high school, he moved to Aspen upon being released in the late ’70s.

He worked for the city of Aspen for 20 years and has spent the past five years gold-mining in Alaska during the summers with XII Caesars Gold. And most recently, he drove a bus for the Aspen School District.

Aspen is where he met the love of his life Jackie (McPhee) Ayers and had two beautiful children together, Jimmy Ayers and Ashley Ayers. Jim had the ability to walk into any room and control it with his magnetic personality that pulled everyone in to hear his endless stories, infectious laugh and goofy smile. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, children, brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many close friends and the community that he touched. A celebration of Jim’s life is being planned for this coming summer.

Jim was another older brother to me. An amazing, dynamic individual who was

tough and yet kind when it needed be. He taught me how to swing the bat. I miss him.
