Claremont resident James Jay Dunham died of a heart attack at his home on January 1, 2009. He was 57. 

Born on June 6, 1951 in Pasadena, Mr. Dunham lived in southern California his entire life. In 1962, after a period of residency in Duarte, he moved with his family to Claremont.
After attending El Roble Intermediate School and graduating from Claremont High School in 1969, he earned a degree in mathematics from Cal Poly Pomona in 1976.

An entrepreneur, Mr. Dunham established his own company, DM Computing, Inc., using his computer expertise to help others in the field. "He was a computer geek," said his mother, Ruth Dunham.

Mr. Dunham was keenly interested in government and politics, and he collected works of science fiction. A gourmet cook as well, he enjoyed making cookies for the children in his neighborhood.

"He was a devoted son," said Ms. Dunham. "He had moved in with us and, for the past 3 years, he was our chief caregiver."

Mr. Dunham is survived by his parents, Robert and Ruth Dunham of Claremont; by his sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Norman Rosine, and their 10 children, all of Israel; and by his 7 great nieces and great nephews, also of Israel.

Services were held on January 13, 2009 at Oak Park Cemetery. Mr. Dunham's parents held a reception in their Claremont home immediately following
