Is this the same Mike Nichols who passed away from cancer? He was in the class of 1965 and died in May, 2005. I was married to him for 15 years and we had two sons, Steve and Sean. May be the wrong one, but two with the same name in the same class seems a bit odd.

To Pamela and sons, our apologies, we must have recorded in error the date of Michaels passing. We had found out he had passed away but according to our roster the date that was recorded had a question mark next to it, so the actual date had not been confirmed and was most likely a guess on the part of the provider of the information. Thank you for providing that addtional information about Michael and I want to give you and your sons my sincere condolences for your loss. Michael was someone  who was fondly remembered by many of our classmates, including me. We were saddened by his passing. We have honored him at each reunion since he passed away along with many others who are no longer with us. Thank you for telling us, via this site, the additional things we did not know about Michaels life. I was a classmate of Michaels and from my memory he was a bit shy but quick with a smile. He was also quite good looking I might add, no disrepect intended. The last picture we have of him was in 1964, he didn't have a Senior Picture taken. If you have any pictures you wouldn't mind sharing, we could share them on this site and at our next reunion, our 50th Reunion coming up in October. I am sure those that were friends of Michaels would love to see them. Again, I am deeply sorry for your loss and wish you and his sons the best, their Dad is well remembered from the days of our youth. Best Wishes, Cathy Cordova

Thank you Cathy, and thank you for correcting the date of death. I'm glad you found the 1964 picture as he did not have a Sr. picture taken. I will go through my pictures to find some more recent ones and send them to you or post them here.

Mike and I were divorced in 1982, and he remarried several times. I also remarried in 1983, to George Ports. Mike and I had 2 sons, as I mentioned before, Steven James Nichols and Sean Christopher Nichols. Steve chose to be with his dad on August 10, 2013, which was also his birthday. I am sure I will never get over that tragedy. Sean is a Master Sgt. in the USAF. He made the Air Force his career after 5 years with the San Bernardino PD. He will retire in two more years. We are very proud of him, as was his dad.

Mike was a truck driver his entire working life. He enjoyed that life, as did his dad before him. He supported his parents, and other relatives from time to time. He had a good heart and was very generous. He worked hard and played hard. He owned two Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed riding on long or short trips. His ideal state was Oregon and he had found a house there when he received news that his cancer had spread to his brain. He had to give up his dream of moving there, and passed away a few weeks later.  Our son, Sean rode his Harley with another friend, to Oregon to spread his ashes at Crater Lake. I guess he made it to Oregon after all.

We had always remained friends, and I am still close to his mom (92) and his sisters, Ruth, Chris and Sandy. He had another brother, Jerry who passed away from cancer a couple of years ago, and another brother, Jim, who lives in TX. We all got together at Mike's house in Apple Valley about a week before he passed. It was bittersweet, but something he wanted.

Thank you for the update.  He will be missed by his classmates.  I remember Mike as being quiet and unassuming.  Prould to have been a classmate.  R.I.P.
