Carol Jean Clanton (Bobroff)

Nov 29, 1948 - Mar 11, 2004

BOBROFF, CAROL JEAN (CLANTON) 55, Of Running Springs, formerly of Claremont, passed away at home on March 11, 2004 after a valiant 15 month struggle with cancer.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Henry M. and Eloise F. Clanton of Claremont, and paternal Grandparents Henry C. and Ellen R. Clanton of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Claremont.

Carol was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her, and will be lovingly remembered for her courageous spirit, strength and determination. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. Carol was born on November 29, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, and lived most of her life in Southern California, attending Claremont schools.

During her career she was employed by the Dept. of Public Social Services; General Telephone Co., in Pomona and also in Mentone, from which she later retired. After moving to Running Springs in 1984 she was Production Director and photographer for the "Alpenhorn" newspaper. More recently, Carol loved stamping and tole painting, and was vice President of Membership for the Sugar Pine Painters Association of Lake Arrowhead. Her biggest passion was spending time with her family, especially her 3 granddaughters, niece, and nephews whom she adored.

Carol is survived by her loving husband John, two sons - Jon of Temeucla, and Randy (Barbara) and three granddaughters (Donna, Carly & Autumn) of Running Springs; sisters Sue (Keith) Holtz of Tucson, AZ; and Kay (Gary) and niece Sarah Horn of Riverside; and brother Jim (Patty) Clanton and nephews Matt & Scotty of San Diego. Carol also leaves many loving extended family members in Massachusetts, Michigan, and New Hampshire as well as her dear friends in CA.

The family wishes to thank the following people for their wonderful care during Carol's illness: Dr. Don Doty and Nurse Practitioner Fancy Davis at Mountains Community Hospital; Dr. Dennis Hilliard and the oncology team at St. Bernardine's Hospital; and Carol's very special "angels" from the Hospice Support Team of the Visiting Nurses Association of Inland Counties in Banning, who helped make her life more comfortable during the last few weeks--especially Tracey, Priscilla, Mary Beth, and Marie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carol's name to the VNAIC in Banning (909-845-8439), 264 N. Highland Springs Ave., Bldg. 4-B, Banning, CA 92220; or to the American Cancer Society in San Bernardino. Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino handled arrangements, and there will be a private celebration of Carol's life held at a later date.
