Darian Colette Shinn (nee Davis), Joined her father in heaven on September 18, 2004. She valiantly battled breast cancer over the past twelve years and became an inspiration and shining example to all who knew her.
Darian was born on July 14, 1964 to Kent and Reva Davis in Sacramento. She grew up in Claremont, California and graduated from Claremont High School in 1982. Darian met the love of her life Terry Shinn (CHS 1981), in Claremont and they were later married on June 28, 1986. They lived in Alta Loma for the past eight years and were blessed with two children son Colby and daughter Tara. Darian was very active in her children's activities. Volunteering at the schools, sports events, dance recitals, and Down syndrome groups. Darian's love for her children and her determination to uncompromisingly seek the very best for them, in spite of her own challenges, has been an inspiration to all that knew her.
Darian helped many other cancer patients cope with their many challenges and gave them hope. Darian was an active member in the Etiwanda Brethren in Christ Church and was active in the Regional Women's Ministries. Darian enjoyed BUNCO, scrapbook parties, bowling with friends, softball with family and friends, gardening, Disneyland trips, and sunny days. Darian is preceded in death by grandparents George and Ella Davis, Maurice and Isabelle Babby.
Darian is survived by her parents Kent and Reva Davis, Anchorage, husband Terry, children Colby and Tara, brothers Michael Davis, San Diego, and Todd Davis, Alta Loma, eight nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends.
Todd Memorial Chapel in Claremont is in charge of arrangements. The viewing will be at the Todd Memorial Chapel, 325 North Indian Hill, Claremont, September 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Darian's life will be held at the Claremont United Church of Christ Congregational at 233 Harrison Ave., Claremont, September 24th at 1 p.m. Please join our family immediately following the service to share time with Darian at her final resting place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 21300 Via Ve rde Drive, Covina. Our Journey will end with a lunch reception at Etiwanda Gardens, 7576 Etiwanda Ave., Etiwanda. Darian (Davis) Shinn married her high school sweetheart, fellow CHS alumni Terry Shinn (Class of 1981), and they had 2 children, son Colby and daughter Tara.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 28 (in 1992) and fought recurring bouts with it for 12 years. Sometime in 2003 - 2004 the cancer appeared on her liver and she did not last long after that.
She died on September 18, 2004.
She was a very happy person, an excellent wife, and a truly amazing mother. She loved her family and would do anything for them regardless of how she was feeling.
