Julia Inez Applebee passed away Thursday, Feb. 6th 2003, at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center following a brief hospitalization. She was 79 years of age.

Mrs. Applebee was born on July 28, 1923, in Canon City, Colorado. She graduated from Salinas Union High School in 1941. She received her AA degree in Library Science from Mount San Antonio College in 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Applebee, who died in 1990.

The family moved to Claremont in 1962. She worked at Claremont High School for 27 years before retiring in 1993. She was active in the California School Employees Association starting as the Regional Representative for Region 55 from 1983 to 1986 and then was the Director of Area F from 1986 until 1990. After retirement she enjoyed traveling extensively.

She was active in Chapter BB of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was an active membe r of Claremont Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She has resided at Mount San Antonio Gardens since 1995.

Mrs. Applebee is survived by her daughters, Susan Price of Henderson, Kentucky and Linda Eggers of Duluth, Georgia; her sons, Richard and Robert, both of Ontario; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Claremont Presbyterian Church, 1111 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount San Antonio Gardens, 900 E. Harrison Ave., Pomona, CA 91767.
