TEMECULA - Merlin Clifford Apel, age 79, of Temecula, died September 15, 2004 at Wildomar Senior Living. Born November 28, 1924 in Ohio, was a resident of Temecula for one yea r, and a former resident of Claremont. He was a Physical Education teacher for Claremont High School for 34 years and held a Bachelor degree. Mr. Apel also served in the United States Army. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Galbraith of Temecula, son, Jeff Apel of Oregon and five grandchildren. 

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Claremont High School Athletic Department, 1601 N. Indian Hills Blvd., Claremont, CA 91711.
