James "Jim" Graham, Jr. - Class Of 1970 VIEW PROFILE

James Jim Graham, Jr.

Aug 28, 1952 - May 26, 2018

James Graham Jr. (Jim) died peacefully at his Claremont home on May 26.

Jim was born on August 28, 1952 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. He was a resident of Claremont since 1962, graduating from Claremont High School in 1970 where he played trumpet in the Wolfpack marching band.

A lifelong lover of music, he had an encyclopedic knowledge of many genres, which was reflected in his extensive vinyl and CD collection. He enjoyed living in Claremont and attending many civic events such as the Fourth of July celebrations, Village Venture and especially concerts in the park. He also frequented many concerts in nearby communities.

Cars were a special interest of his, and he could identify passing makes and models from the age of two. His amazing memory made him a sought-after team member in Trivial Pursuit games. He worked at North-West College in West Covina for 32 years, retiring in 2017.

Mr. Graham’s mother, Dorothy S. Graham, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his father, James Graham; siblings Rick (Phoebe) Graham, Tricia (Adam) Rowe, Carol (Vann) Parker; niece Megan Rowe and nephews Riley Rowe, Corey Parker and Bennett Parker.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to City of Hope Medical Center at cityofhope.org/giving/donate

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Jim.  He was my brother Jim's best friend in hight school.  His name was Vincent James Soward (Marietta), better known as Jim.  I remember both JIms being the best of friends, talking about cars and music.  My brother passed away in 1975 from an auto accident.I think my mom was in contact with Mr. Graham after my brothers death.  I always wondered what happened to Jim Graham.  It is just now that I realize he was always in Claremont.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his family. Jim was a fine person with extraordinary gifts -- encyclopaedic memory for dates, music, and even (to me) obscure car parts and types, which he could identify unfailingly. He was also a pleasure to know. He not only remembered musicians and their works, he also had great musical taste. He put together the most marvelous playlist for Rick and Phoebe's wedding. He was my sister Phoebe's brother-in-law, and thus a member of our family, too. Reading his obit, and remembering him today, I am thankful to have been touched by his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Thinking of you, Jim. --Suzanne

Wow! What a great loss! I'm so sorry that Jim passed, I remember when Jim and his family moved into the neighborhood the same time as my family, he was my age at 10, Jim lived 2 doors away, so I went and introduced myself to him and so we became friends. A very kind, soft spoken gentle person whom will be greatly missed. I pray he Rest In Peace.
