Caren Pocock (Whiteside) - Class Of 1964

Caren Pocock (Whiteside)

July 7, 1946 - Oct 4, 2023

Caren Whiteside died October 4 following a sudden heart attack. She was 77 years old. Born in Pomona on July 7, 1946, she was raised in Pomona and Claremont where she graduated from Claremont High School in 1964.

A lifelong resident of Pomona and Claremont, Caren was active in several community organizations including the Pomona Junior Women’s Club, Karousel Kids, and planning each CHS class of 1964 reunion. Through these organizations and her community involvement, she made many lifelong friendships.

Over the course of her life she worked in escrow, real estate, managed a furniture store, and as a small business owner. Crimson Cottage, her home decorating store, was located at Griswold’s Old School House, where she attended high school.

She was known as an exceptional cook. She loved decorating her own home and others through her work in the home furnishings and decorating business. She loved live theater and saw many Broadway plays on her trips to New York, which was one of her happy places.

She is survived by daughters Heather (Paul) and Rebecca; her partner Larry Webster; sister, Cathy; brother, Rick; a niece; two nephews; five grandchildren; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Shannon.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 19, at Claremont Women’s Club, 343 W. 12th St., Claremont 91711.
